Wow, this weekend was crazy busy. I feel like I've been going non-stop since Friday. Friday night I worked 5-close as usual. After work I went out and stayed out until 2am. Woke up Saturday and worked 9-5. Got off work and went down to the cities to a friend's house for a birthday party, and didn't get home until 3 am. Woke up this morning and worked 10-5. I got a total of 9 hours of sleep over the course of this weekend. This is totally so unlike me. I need my sleep. This evening I did some homework including some reading and writing a paper. I feel a little better about the fact that I did absolutely nothing productive prior to this evening. The only thing keeping me positive about this week is that on Saturday Luke and I leave for Mexico. I can't wait! I know I just talked about it in my last post, but it is seriously all I think about. I mean come on, I work at a sporting goods store where every single person I let into the fitting rooms is trying on swimwear for their spring break trip.
I decided a great way to jump start my week on a positive note would be to list 10 things that make me happy! :)
1. jumbo cups of coffee, when you need it most
2. curling up in bed after a long day [or weekend ;)]
3. organizing everything around me
4. my love, Luke William ♥
5. Nike "be strong" yoga pants
6. that feeling you get when you know you accomplished something big
7. working out
8. when people smile at you for no reason
9. seeing friends that you never get to see
10. listening to Green Day
What did you do over the weekend? What makes you happy?
I am getting so antsy for it to be spring break. I want to be laying on the beach, exploring Mayan ruins, and swimming in the pool. Mostly though, I want warmth. I am so sick of snow! Despite my excitement, I feel like I have no time to prepare and pack...I know there is still a week to go, but I also have midterms all next week. I still have so much to get! I finally got one more swimsuit for the trip, and am very pleased with my purchase. :)
I love love love the polka dots and bandeau style top! Victoria's Secret never lets me down. As far as an update about today goes, once again it was pretty uneventful. I didn't have any classes today, which was wonderful. This afternoon, Laura, Megan, our neighbor Matt, and I ran a few errands. After that we did a workout video called "The Biggest Loser Cardio Max..." I think that's what it's called at least. It's a great video if anyone is looking for another great one. I got a few great comments on Fitness Monday about some other videos to check out. I am going to go to library in the next few days to check them out and see which ones I like best! With Mexico only a week away, I plan on doing a lot of strict toning workouts including abs, glutes, and legs. I. CAN'T. WAIT.
The rest of this evening is going to be spent watching Burn Notice and hanging out with my love. :)
Have a good night everyone!
Is anyone else doing anything fun for Spring Break!?
I really, really, really love you. I also really love your music...even the "dirty" stuff. Sometimes I call you "Luda" when I'm talking about you with my roommates. I tell them I know you so well that we are on half-name basis. Yeah, my love for you is that strong. Thing is...I know you don't really disrespect women, though some your music states otherwise. You even have your own foundation for kids. If you could only come to Minnesota and perhaps marry me. Would that be at all possible? Shh, don't tell my boyfriend. Our marriage would be purely so that you can sing "Runaway Love" to me everyday...and maybe a few other songs as well.
I decided to jump on the bandwagon and join in on the "what's in your bag?" fun. :) Sorry about the pictures being a bit blurry, and the lighting is terrible. My bad! Here goes:
(Mini notebook, pens, name tag and keys for work, ipod nano, keys, mittens, sunglasses, gum, lotion, burt's bees chapstick, hand sanitizer, wallet)
Nothing real exciting, but I guess it's a small glimpse into my life...or, i mean...purse. Let me know if you do this, if you haven't already, and leave me a comment with the link! I love looking at these.
On a completely different note, I've had a formspring over on the lefthand side for a while now. I have a few questions in my inbox, but I wanted to wait to answer them in a post until I had a few more. So now's your chance! Ask me anything, and I'll do a post in the next few days answering them!
Ok, I'm going to go to sleep now, while watching WWII in HD on the History Channel. Shh. Don't make fun. ;) Good night!
I don't have much to talk about. I'm hanging out with Megan and my mom, who leaves for Colorado tomorrow. Unfortunately I have to work tonight, so our day will be cut short. Yesterday was a pretty busy day. Class in the morning. Homework and a cat nap in the afternoon. Speaker and grocery shopping in the evening. Pretty uneventful. I just thought I'd do a little post to inform you of my boring and unevenful life. :)
So, I thought that this week for Fitness Monday, I would share a workout that my roommates and I have recently re-discovered. Tae-bo! It's from the late '90s, and was created by fitness trainer Billy Blanks. The outfits he wears are totally ridiculous, but the work out is great! I found the 8 minute workout on youtube, and figured I would share it with you! It's perfect for days when you don't have a lot of time, and would be an awesome way to start the day! Here it is:
I also thought I would address a few websites that I've discovered that can help you track what you eat and how much you work out. Some of them even give you workouts and meal plans! A few that I've checked out have been:
My weekend was awesome! I had so much fun. Friday, as I stated previously, was our friend Bade's birthday. After work, I rushed home to get ready, and we were at the house by 10pm. It was a fun night with friends. It got a little out of hand by the end of the night, and Luke and I left by 2am.
I woke up Saturday to a text from my mom saying that she had gotten on an early flight. Laura and I picked her up around noon, and headed over to MOA for a day of shopping. After spending 20 minutes trying to find a parking spot, we realized it probably wasn't the best day for shopping. We proceeded to do so anyways. People are crazy at MOA. They seem to forget that it's just a mall...a real, big mall. I found quite a few cute things though! I got a new purse, which I will be showing off later this week in a "what's in your bag?" post. I also found some cute stuff for summer and my upcoming trip to Mexico! After shopping, we all came back to the apartment, and I spent the evening watching movies with my momma. :) It was absolutely wonderful.
Today we woke up early, and had breakfast at Perkins. Luke was working, so our service was great. :) Cheesy...I know, but I love him. Afterwards, we drove to my Grandpa's to see him and Lucy. It was wonderful, and I even got to see my uncle Greg, who also flew out for the funeral. It was wonderful to see so much of my family, who I never get to see otherwise. My evening was spent at Megan's parent's house. Her mom even made us hotdish...yes, in Minnesota we call it hotdish, not casserole. Overall, I'd say this weekend could be classified as successful. As long as you don't count the fact that I did absolutely ZERO homework. I'll get around to it tomorrow. :)
I'm off to watch the rest of Crash. Have any of you seen this movie? It's so moving, and so real. I could watch it over and over again.
I love absolutely everything about retro pin-up style. I love the hair, the make-up, the clothes, the poses...everything!!!
Here's from last Halloween. If I could (aka have more time and money) I would dress like this everyday.
Going along with that theme...today, while shopping at MOA with Laura and my mom, I picked up this beauty at F21. I never leave that store empty handed. :)
I'll post pictures tomorrow from last night's party! Hope everyone's weekend is going great. I'm having a great time chilling and watching girly movies with my mom. :)
P.S. Pin Up Girl Clothing is a great site for retro dresses, sweaters, jewelry, and everything else you could possibly think of! Check them out here!
Words cannot describe how happy I am that it's Friday. Woohoo! After staying up last night, to finish my paper on British Intelligence during World War II, until 2 am, I am really looking forward to the weekend. The book I had to read was actually really interesting, and I had no problem reading it in one sitting. If any of you like spy movies or books you would probably like this one. It's called The Man Who Never Was, if anyone is interested. At 7:20 this morning I woke up from a text, and though I was pissed off, it warmed my heart because it was a text from a co-worker that said: "Eden- have a great day!!" It was completely random, but was a great way to start my day. Luckily, I eventually fell back asleep, but was woken up again at 9:10 with a call from my mom. She's flying into the MSP airport sometime this weekend to go to my uncle's funeral. I'm really excited to see her, despite the circumstances. Hopefully she can get on a flight tomorrow!
All I have to do today is a quick online Geography 253 quiz, class from 2-2:50, then work 5-close. After work the roomies and I are heading over to a friend's house for our other friend's birthday celebration! It should be a fun night, and I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, I'll have pictures to post tomorrow.
I hope everyone has a great Friday! Do any of you have fun plans for the weekend!? :)
First off, I would like to thank all of you that left comments on my post about my uncle. Each and every one of them cheered me up. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'm so lucky to have such awesome readers, and friends. :)
Today was, once again, rather uneventful. Homework in the morning. Class. Work and Tae-bo in the evening, and now I have a ton of homework to do. I have a huge paper due on Friday, and have yet to finish the book I need to write it. So, that is number one on my priority list. For background noise, I have one of my favorite movies on. I love everything about this movie. It inspires me in more ways that one. It's a movie based on history, which by now many of you know I love with a passion. Plus, the costumes and design are absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. Here are a few of my favorite screenshots from Marie Antoinette:
I appologize again for not having anything interesting to write about. I promise it will get better. It's just that school is and always be my number one priority. I'm sure you all understand. I hope everyone is having a great week so far, and I promise I'll catch up on reading and commenting on your blogs!
So, I don't have a lot to say today. I had class all morning and did homework all afternoon. Then, this evening I had another human relations speaker, who was by far the worst one yet. It was a very uneventful day. Probably the most exciting part was attempting to do Tae-bo with all 3 of my roommates in our living room. Basically, it was hilarious, though it felt good. After doing about 20 minutes of Tae-bo, I did some of toning exercises. It felt great to workout again, since I've been so busy lately.
On a less happy note, I just found out that my Uncle Frankie died last week. My grandpa had been trying to get a hold of him all weekend, and finally called the sheriff's dept to go check on him. When they got there they discovered that he had been gone for a few days already. I hadn't seen my Uncle Frankie (technically my mom's uncle) in years, but when I was little I remember getting so excited for him to come visit us. He always gave me piggyback rides, and let me ride on his shoulders. I always thought it was so cool because he was super tall. I think I got a lot from Uncle Frankie because not only did I end up being super tall, but he is also the only person in our family to have the same ears as my sister and I. (I'll admit they're a little big, but they're us.) Growing up is so hard, you really start to take for granted the people and things you loved when you were little. Uncle Frankie was a great man and a great role model.
We love you, Uncle Frankie. You'll be forever missed.
Now that Valentine's Day is over it's time for me to get back on track. So, I decided to post my favorite at-home workout. I found in last summers issue of Shape Magazine (which I strongly recommend as a fitness magazine!) It is the best workout I've ever found in a magazine, and I feel so good after doing it.
Let me know if you try it out! What kind of toning workouts do you do? I'm always looking for new and great tips!
Luke and I have never really gone all out on Valentine's Day. I will admit I used to get a little disappointed about it. I'm done with that though. I don't need the him to spend tons of money on me in order for me to be happy. Our V-days have been perfect. Today was no different. I woke up around 9 and made dessert and got myself all "gussied up" for the day. When Luke woke up he made me a huge breakfast that included bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. He even remembered to cook my eggs just the way I like them. :) After breakfast, we went out and rented movies because we decided it was the perfect way to spend the day together. What's better than lounging around with your sweetie on a Sunday afternoon? Nothing that I can think of. We rented Couples' Retreat, Flyboys, and Leatherheads. So far we've watched the first two, and are about to start the next. The best thing about today was dinner. We made teriyaki stirfry with tons of veggies. Mmm! This is one thing I am so excited about for the future; cooking dinner together in a kitchen that we can call our own. :) Luke was a sweetheart and even did the dishes afterwards. Our food was delish! We finished off with a sweet dessert made by me. :) Here are a few pics from today!
