we've finally set a date and booked our venues!
on june 2nd, 2012, i will officially become a MRS!
i couldn't be more excited.
our wedding ceremony will be held in luke's parents beautiful front yard.
it is very wooded, and will give us the rustic and romantic feel that we want...
...ok, that i want.
as a backup, we've rented a chapel incase the weather gods decide to mess with me.
we're really hoping they don't.
funny story though, the chapel was my childhood church before they built a new and improved building.
so at least our backup isn't so bad.
for our reception we've rented a local golf club.
the building is really nice, and there are a ton of picture-taking backdrops.
we're beyond excited.
our next step is to narrow down a photographer.
i've been drooling over a couple for quite sometime.
xox, eden
ps. for those of you who are married, what are things i should be looking out for when picking a photographer? advice is always welcome!

You really have your bases covered! I didn't realize people get a backup location.. so much to learn before I get married one day!

Your locations seems gorgeous, your reception venue is beautiful. It looks like you are going in the right direction with your planning. My sister is getting married June 9, 2012...so I guess that is a good week for weddings :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Congratulations! The reception venue is truly stunning- I'm sure it will be a very blessed memorable event. x
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! This entry made my day. Everything looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo, about the photographer, narrow your search down to 4. Look at their portfolios to see whose style matches yours the most -- and who you think could capture the essence of your wedding the best. I found some photographers who had gorgeous photos but they were all glamorous and blingy and didn't fit my own style.
Next up, meet with your photographers -- you should be very comfortable around the person who will be photographing your big day. Think of it this way: would you want that person to be a guest at your wedding? One of the photographers I spoke to was standoffish -- very professional but very firm - no smiles etc. and that wasn't going to cut it (my mother speaks no english and only understands smiles!)
Third, make sure you finalize everything before signing anything -- like, does the person have insurance? (might not matter if your venue doesn't require it), if he or she falls sick or something happens (god forbid!), what will they do for you to make sure you get your day photographed? will they offer you prints as well? will you and your family own printing rights so you can print them at, say target, if you want? Etc. etc.
Finally, I want to say that you two are such a beautiful couple -- you will look great in any pictures! :) Can't wait to read more about your preparations. So exciting!
Yes! I love Gene. I joked about him being my second favourite thing about the wedding. He is so calm and wonderful -- we were giddy during the ceremony and had no idea what we were doing but he went with it. He stayed right till the end and was just lovely to our guests.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!! I bet you're so excited! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not married but I am a wanna-be photographer. I would say... for sure find someone whose style you like. Look at other weddings they've done. How's their style - casual, formal, or quirky? Make sure you love their photography style or you're not going to love their work on your wedding either.
Don't just go with the cheapest or with someone's brother's uncle's best friend. Find someone who is skilled at capturing magical moments with his/her camera. Photography really is a skill and an art and it's good to find someone who's learned to hone his/her craft.
Someone like this guy is would be amazing to have as a wedding photographer. I'm not sure how expensive he is, but I just love his style.
